LUDHIANA: A chhabeel was organized by the staff of a private company at Mall Road on Tuesday.
The organizers had sent SMSs to people and more than 50 volunteers turned out to participate in arrangements. The chhabeel was organized for fifth time on the occasion of martyrdom day of Guru Arjun Dev.
Resident of BRS Nagar Bhagwinder Pal Singh said, ''Every year the staff members contribute money and organize a chhabeel for the people of the city.
It’s their way of remembering and paying respect to Guru Arjun Dev. During the chhabeel, the staff members also educate people about the teachings and sacrifices of guru ji.''
Resident of Dugri Balwiander Singh said, ''The youth of the city know the importance of the day. On this day everybody is busy in Gurdwara, as every year they hold chhabeel on the next day of the martyrdom day of Guru Arun Dev ji. And everybody who is willing, can participate and serve people.''
Resident of Janta Nagar Paramjeet Singh said, ''By participating in organizing a chhabeel, people unite and serve others with a positive spirit.''
Resident of Sarabha Nagar Pritpal Singh said, ''Every year on this particular day, my college friends who come from Delhi and Noida, organize a chhabeel.'
They believe, a person might belong to any religion but he or she should always respect great leaders who have sacrificed their life for others, he said.
