Hetaishi Mankind Welfare (regd) started "

Selfie with Garbage

" competition on Monday. The NGO has also decided to award Rs 2,100 to the winner of the competition.

Members of the group said that they have been complaining about the garbage at service lane, Ferozpur road near Silver Arc Mall which was dumped before Diwali but even after around 10 days, no action has been taken despite complaints being forwarded to Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria and municipal commissioner Ghanshyam Thori. The "Selfie with Garbage" would be held at the site where the waste has been dumped.

President of the NGO Sushil Prabhakar who runs a shop in the area said that before Diwali, some people had dumped waste grass and garbage in the parking lot on Ferozpur road. The contractor at the parking lot later shifted it to side of the road. Following this, many complaints had been registered.

Members said that even mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria and MC chief Ghanshyam Thori were apprised about the problem but to no avail. He said that no one including the sweepers deputed by MC or the A2Z company officials were ready to remove the garbage which had been creating problems for everybody.

Sarcastically, members of the group have written designations of MC chief, mayor, area councillor ward 56, area MLA, district BJP and SAD presidents on the board installed on the wall and have thanked them. They appreciated the state government and MC authorities for "ripping apart" the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan of PM Narendra Modi. However, members said that they do not have any political motive behind this. The members said that the authorities have failed to perform their duty.

Further, Prabhakar said that they will award a cash prize of Rs 2,100 to winner of the competition. Meanwhile, MC chief Ghanshyam Thori said that he has forwarded the complaint to the health officer of MC and A2Z company to whom contract of lifting garbage from the city has been awarded.

Meanwhile, Prabhakar alleged that the online complaint made by the NGO is also missing from the site of the MC. But they have the complaint number which is 167895.
