School remains open, FIR lodged against director
Ludhiana: City schools are cancelling all gatherings, including parent-teacher meetings, keeping students’ desks apart during exams, and catering to a growing number of children staying home in a bid to contain the spread of Covid-19. All schools, colleges, restaurants, malls, and everything is shut down, but Gaurav Ghai Public School (GGPS) in Jawaddi is functioning regularly.

The teaching staff in most schools are being told to wok from home, but private schools are flouting the norms and going against the Punjab government. All the exams were suspended, but students have been studying for them.
GGPS staff behaved rudely with mediapersons when they tried to enter the school premises. Besides, DEO Secondary Swaranjeet Kaur too did not pick up calls. DEO Anil Sharma said, “No school is allowed to conduct classes, and I have compiled a report and forwarded to higher authorities to look into the matter, and will take action.”
In fact, the fee payment schedule for admission to class XI at BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, has been revised, and the school has shifted to fee payment through net banking only. The school’s PRO Kiran Saini said, “Parents were informed that there was no meeting in the school, and were told to pay the fee through net banking.”
Dugri police have lodged an FIR under sections 188, 269, and 336 of the IPC against Col Naresh Ghai, director of Gaurav Ghai Public School.
