LUDHIANA: A youth was killed in Arjun Dev Nagar area on Wednesday evening following an argument with a commuter over a minor
accident on road. The murdered boy was identified as
Arvinder Singh, 19.
Cops said around 5.30pm on Wednesday Arvinder and a friend, who was driving a car had hit the scooter of Makhan Singh. Though no one was injured, both parties got into a heated argument after which Makhan Singh's sons confronted the youth in his locality and attacked him with a weapon.
Assistant commissioner of police (East), Bhupinder Singh said preliminary investigation revealed that Makhan Singh and the deceased were living in the same area. ''After the argument Makhan went home and told his sons about the scuffle. So his sons went and got into a fight with Arvinder, stabbing him in the abdomen with a sharp-edged weapon,'' the officer said. Station house officer of Division no 7 police station, inspector Jaswinder Singh said they reached the spot immediately after receiving the information. ''Arvinder was rushed to Christian Medical College and Hospital but was declared brought dead. We are investigating the matter and will explore other reasons behind the crime,'' he added.
