PSIEC top brass comes calling to city

Ludhiana: Ahead of city businessmen’s meeting with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann on September 15, the top brass of Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation (PSIEC) came calling to Ludhiana on Monday in a last-minute effort to understand the major issues being faced by industries in Ludhiana. PSIEC managing director IAS Baldeep Kaur and her deputy Rubinderjit Singh Brar led the delegation of officials who came to meet traders.Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) president Upkar Singh Ahuja said, “It was a pleasant surprise for us that all the top brass of PSIEC came to Ludhiana to discuss issues related to industries, specially the ones connected with Focal Points. All prominent office bearers of the CICU, along with the heads of other business associations, were present in the meeting.Ahuja said, “The issues that which came up for discussions during the meeting included the deteriorating condition of roads and other infrastructure in Focal Points and the enhancement cost of already allotted plots in Focal Points.”CICU general secretary Honey Sethi said: “The biggest issue bothering the industry is the high rate of industrial plots across Punjab, especially in Ludhiana. We requested the officials to start ‘Plug and Play’ scheme on the lines of ones in state such as Bihar, where built-up sheds are allotted to industry at nominal cost.”tnn
