Prisoners drug cops, escape

LUDHIANA: Cops are still looking for Ravinder Singh of Bhagu Majra and Rajwinder Singh of Jalandhar, who were lodged in Ludhiana jail and escaped after drugging head constable Baljeet Singh and constable Dimple Singh near Morinda on Friday. They were returning from their hearing in a Mohali court.
Ravinder is accused in three murder cases and has already served a 10-year sentence in a case of threatening and drugging.Rajwinder is accused in a murder case and for nine other heinous crimes.
Sources said the accused had brought cold drinks spiked with drugs and offered those to the cops, who passed out after consuming them allowing the duo to escape. ���We have registered a case against them and started searching for them. I am quite hopeful, we will nab them soon,��� said SHO Balwinder Singh.
