LUDHIANA: This Diwali, Shabeg Singh Ahluwalia of South City has much to rejoice over. His pet Whisky, a pit bull, has just given birth to five puppies and Shabeg could not ask for a better Diwali gift.
On Wednesday evening, Shabeg, 22, has planned to celebrate the birth of the newborns by throwing a party for friends.
"This is the first time three-year-old Whisky has given birth and I am very excited.

Whisky is fine and the puppies - four females and one male - are also feeding well,'' said Shabeg, adding that he has invited his close friends home for the birthday party on Diwali night.
Shabeg knows that pets are usually afraid of fireworks so he plans to keep his dogs indoors and will not burst crackers.
"I love animals and take special care of them on Diwali so that they don't get hurt,'' said the businessman, who bought Whisky from Hoshiarpur for Rs 25,000.
Shabeg appealed that all pet owners should take special care of their pets and express their love by being sensitive towards them on Diwali.
