Ludhiana: Two days after the
Sadar
police had booked a former police Inspector
Rajwant Singh for not submitting his licensed weapon with the police during the model code of conduct, a picture of an SHO has surfaced in the internet in which a man sitting with him is seen with a weapon. The man seen with a weapon is said to be a friend of the SHO.
Importantly, during the code of conduct every person has to submit their licensed weapons either with the respective police station or with the gun house. Those who get exemption, also cannot carry weapons publically as they have to keep it at home. This picture is said to be of
Sarabha Nagar
police station in which the SHO sub inspector
Jaskanwal Singh Sekhon
is sitting on a chair and the man sitting opposite him with a weapon tucked around his waist. Additional DCP Ashwini Goytal said, “I have received the picture and have asked the concerned ACP to verify it. Everyone has to submit their weapons with the police or gun houses during the code of conduct. We are verifying who that person is and how he managed to not submit the weapon.” The official confirmed that even if someone gets the exemption from submitting the weapon, he can not display it and has to keep the weapon at home.
On Wednesday the Sadar police had booked a retired inspector Rajwant Singh as he had not submitted his licensed weapon.
