Ludhiana: A 14-year-old girl has accused the invigilator of her test centre of sexually harassing her during examination. Though the complaint was lodged last year, the police booked the accused on Friday night following an inquiry.
In her complaint to the Ludhiana deputy commissioner on December 23 last year, the girl said she was a student of Class X at her village school. “I had gone to a school in another village to appear for my examination. The accused, who was on duty there for the examinations of classes VIII and X, used to harass me. On December 18, 2021, he wrote his mobile number and a message ‘call me’ on my question paper before handing it over to me,” she added.
The DC asked Ludhiana rural police to investigate the case. After an inquiry by the SP, crime against women, the report was sent to the district attorney (DA), legal, for opinion.
The DA, legal, said, “I have examined the inquiry report along with the relevant documents. The accused himself admitted in an audio recording produced by the complainant that he wrote the mobile number and the message ‘call me’ on her question paper. The allegations levelled by the complainant were substantiated during investigation.”
Police have booked the accused under Section 354 A (sexual harassment) of the

IPC

and Section 12 of the POCSO Act.
Inspector Abhinav Chauhan said the accused was yet to be arrested.
