LUDHIANA: Punjab College of Technical Education (PCTE), Baddowal has opened its heart to wild animals with its decision to join The Times of India's "bear & foster" campaign. PCTE will raise funds on campus and adopt animals on the basis of the money collected. Class representatives and students' clubs will be involved in the venture.
With the state government passing zero budget for wildlife, TOI started the campaign, "bear & foster" a few weeks ago.
The campaign aims at promoting animal adoption, under which people can pay for the food to be procured for animals.
Many individuals, associations and educational institutes have come up to support the cause. Talking to TOI, director general, PCTE, KNS Kang said, "This is a noble effort. Wildlife is precious. If the government is not taking care of animals, we should do so."
"Some students like class representatives and members of student clubs will be involved in the campaign to raise funds. A meeting with CRs has been scheduled on Friday to encourage them to participate in the campaign," said Kang.
He said ongoing exams will end in January and the fund raising activity will be conducted for a long time. Besides, PCTE will also utilize whatsappp groups, emails and the facebook page of the college to spread the message.
