Park vehicle at your own risk in Kipps Market parking
Ludhiana: Next time you go to Kipps Market and park your vehicle in the paid parking, park it at your own risk. In the eventuality of theft, there is a possibility that you may not even have any proof, despite paying a parking fee and having a receipt, for parking receipts are being issued here without mentioning the vehicle number or other required details.
Some of the locals also mentioned that the employee at the parking lot has been issuing slips by charging half the amount, and issuing slips without mentioning details. Gurdeep Singh, a private employee in Civil Lines, said recently when he parked his two-wheeler in the parking, the attendant initially asked for Rs10 for parking. But when he insisted he could give only Rs5, he agreed and gave me a blank slip.
“There was no mention about the time or the registered number of my vehicle. I was left shocked as in case my vehicle got stolen from the parking, I would have been in no position to make any claims or even prove that I had parked my vehicle in the parking. Simar Kaur, a class 12 student of Sacred Heart School in Sarabha Nagar, suggested that automatic parking machines should be installed in the parking, as it is in metro cities. “Ours is among the proposed smart cities, and these are basic facilities. This will not only save time, but also authorities will be able to track which vehicles are entering or leaving,” she said.
Model Gram businessman Satish Bhatia mentioned that it was important for the contractor to at least write the car numbers or two-wheeler numbers on the slips. MC zonal commissioner Major Sumit Mudh (PCS) said he would look into the issue and take strict action against whoever is found not adhering to the rules.
