The police had also established checkposts at different areas of the city.
Police commissioner Dr Kaustubh Sharma and other senior police officials visited different religious places. The top officials had met different organizations and had asked them not to conduct any march.
Rajiv Tandon, chairman, Shiv Sena (Punjab), said, “I was not allowed to step outside my house today. The police personnel came to my house and remained there till evening. On the one hand, Hindu leaders were restrained from coming out of the houses, on the other a pro-Khalistani march was organized in Amritsar. Such is the hypocrisy of the Punjab government.”
