LUDHIANA: In good news for city residents, now getting your servants, tenants and employees registered is all set to become easier as the city police have launched an online registration process www.ismic.org. for the same.
With over 10 lakh migrant labourers in the city, the service will benefit residents in a long way.
The service was launched in collaboration with a private company Plateau Techniques here on Tuesday.
The multi-task site will not only act as a deterrent for crime, but tracing migrants will become hassle-free.
Launching the site SSP Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill said, "The online registration will speed up things as earlier, record were maintained manually. This will also put an end to the harassment faced by residents and migrants as well."
SP city I Harsh Kumar Bansal and SP detective Surinder Kalia were also present during the occasion.
Deepak, a representative from Plateau Techniques, elaborated how one would have to give detailed information about oneself, including phone number, address etc, which would then be verified through by the company's call centre based at Mohali.
Once the verification has been done, the person would get a login and could register as many persons he wanted for the verification process by sending a scanned photograph and details along with a fee of Rs 80, which could be paid online through the credit card.
Once the fee is paid, an executive from the company would come check the pictures and collect fingerprints before handing over the identity cards.
Gill said the website could also be used by the police to know about any person registered on the website.
Moreover, police officials of other states and countries could also get information about any local resident registered on the site.
Tracing made easyOne can find carpenters, painters, plumbers etc registered on the site.
Missing and lost persons from other states living in the city can be traced easily.
