LUDHIANA: Seven girls from Ludhiana have bagged top positions in the Panjab University MSc-II (physics) results that were declared on Monday. All the seven students are from Guru Nanak Girls College (GNGC), Model Town.
Arshdeep Kaur has come first with 76.3%, Harpreet Kaur has taken the second rank with 75.65% and with 74.7%, Manjinder Kaur has come third in PU. Others in the top 10 positions are Manpreet Kaur, who has come sixth; Diljeet Kaur at the seventh rank; Akashdeep Kaur at ninth position and Kanchan Rani at the 10th rank.
Model Town-resident Arshdeep said it's a double bonanza for her since she came first in 2010 too with 76.4%. An IAS aspirant Arshdeep said she has been preparing for competitive exams for the last two years and will write those coming up.
Harpreet, who stays in Janta Nagar, had also come second last year and was a little disappointed that she could not come first this time. "I had resolved to work harder and take the first rank this time but God seems to have had other plans,'' she said. Even third-ranker Manjinder was not very excited about her result since she was also eying the top slot. "I came third in MSc (I) too and really worked hard to come first this time but I couldn't,'' said Manjinder, a resident of New Guru Angad Dev Colony.
Shimplapuri-resident Manpreet was confident that she would be among the top 10 and said her result shows that hard work makes all things possible. Seventh-ranker Diljeet said her success mantra is to enjoy studies and never take tension. "That's why I have made it to this slot,'' said Diljeet, who is a resident of Mandi Gobindgarh.
Though Akashdeep has scored 71.45% she is not happy because she expected more than 77%. However, her rank has escalated from last year's 10th to ninth. For Kanchan Rani, her 10th rank with 70.9% is very satisfactory since she did not get any university position last year. "I worked towards this and feel content,'' she said.
