LUDHIANA: Police are yet to make a breakthrough a day after about 25 robbers looted Rs 17-lakh goods from a transformer-manufacturing factory in Focal Point after holding its employees hostage.
Prem Kumar Maheshwari, the factory owner, said, "In the wee hours of Saturday, I got a call from my employee informing me about the loot of copper rolls."
SHO of Focal Point police station Jatinderjeet Singh said, "A case has been registered, but the robbers are yet to be identified. The footage of CCTV cameras installed in the factory is not of much use as their faces are covered. Twenty to 25 miscreants were involved in the robbery. We will check CCTV cameras of adjoining areas too."
Sources said, "After scaling the factory walls, the robbers held the security guard deployed at the gate hostage. While some of the armed miscreants took position at the gate, others held five more employees captive."
Factory officials said, "They broke the lock of shutters of the strong room and loaded the copper rolls and strips on a jeep. Guard
Jatinder Singh and another employee,
Lakshman, were admitted to a hospital."
