New DBA panel has 3 women executive members

Ludhiana: Three women were elected as executive members of the District Bar Association, election for which was held on Friday. ARO Advocate Ravinder Singh Prince said that of the nine candidates who were in the fray for six posts of executive members, Paras Sharma won with 1,728 votes, Vanshika Jain got 1,639 votes, Anchal Kapoor secured 1,617 votes, Divya Mittal polled 1,423 votes, Mannat Arora got 1,418 and Umesh Garg got 1,344. Satjot Kaur lost the election after polling 812 votes, Jai Krishan Chopra got 1,065 votes and Rachna secured 375 votes. Rajinder Singh Bhandari was elected to the post of joint secretary. He defeated his closest rival, Rachin Soni by 79 votes. Karnish Gupta was elected finance secretary. He defeated his closest rival, Amit Gupta by 170 votes. Authorities said that of the 2,994 voters, 2,516 exercised franchise in the DBA elections. While two candidates contested for the post of president, five were in the fray for the post of vice-president, three for secretary, four for joint secretary and five for finance secretary.
