LUDHIANA: A city mall went ecstatic as the starcast of an upcoming Punjabi movie descended on Sunday evening. Though the absence of Gurdas Mann, who is in the movie, was a disappointment for his fans, Jonita Doda became the centre of attraction.
Jonita said the movie highlights the problems and challenges faced by the youths and families of Punjab. The sensitive issue of drug menace has also been taken up, she added.
Speaking about her experience, Jonita said, "It was great working with Gurdas Mann.

He is a fabulous co-star and very humble man. We shot at a stretch for 40 days in beautiful locales of Punjab and lhen in Mumbai. The quality of venacular movies is rising gradually and these hold tremendous scope."
Chandigarh-based Jonita has just finished shooting for two South films. One is a Tamil movie called Makkal Padai with Sajith Raj while the other is in Malayalee, Adhikaram, opposite Irfan Khan. "I am playing a deglamourized role of a Muslim girl," she added. She's also featured in Punjabi album, 'Yariyaan' by singer Daman Mahl besides hosting a show on a television channel.
Meanwhile, the fans were expecting to meet Gurdas Mann. One of those present, Gurdeep Singh, said he had seen all his movies and listened to all the songs that had been rendered by him. Hence, it was a little disappointing when he did not turn up. By taking up interesting issues, Punjabi movies have become successful in attracting the attention of viewers, he added.
