LUDHIANA: Raising an important issue of environmental pollution mainly caused due to vehicles, Member of Parliament from Ludhiana Ravneet Singh Bittu has written a letter to Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Government of India (Independent Charge), demanding the provision of clean fuel, CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) at all filling stations in Punjab to get rid from vehicular pollution to a large extent.
Bringing the attention of Minister towards the important issue of Punjab mainly Industrial town Ludhiana in this letter, Ravneet Singh Bittu informed that the environmental pollution caused with vehicles has affected the weather conditions and also led to health problems among the denizens of the state. He has further informed that the environmentalists have also cautioned of the bad weather conditions in upcoming years due to manifold increase in pollution levels in which vehicular pollution is a major contributor.
While giving example of National Capital, Delhi, Bittu said with the availability of CNG as vehicular fuel the Capital has got rid of air pollution and to prevent the further degradation of environment in Punjab it is the need of the hour for government to provide CNG at all filling stations of Punjab to encourage the vehicle owners to run their vehicles on CNG, demanded Bittu.
Sharing his observation he has written that the large number of three wheelers running on roads are considered as lifeline for the people of Ludhiana, an industrial town of the state and with the availability of CNG and its proper implementation, the major problem in the most polluted city of Punjab will be solved. Moreover the CNG run vehicles will also save the fuel expenses of the consumers comparatively to petrol and diesel vehicles, said Ravneet Singh Bittu.
Apprising the ministers of environmental situation in the state, Bittu requested the minister to sanction the supply of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) at all filling stations of Punjab on top priority and in Public interest.
