Ludhiana: Sahnewal police have booked a man for alleged
rape of a minor girl, who is a student of Class X. The mother of 17-year-old girl claimed that four days back, they discovered that her daughter was three months pregnant.
On being asked, the girl told them that a young man had forcibly made sexual relations with her for some months after promising to marry her.
Police later booked the accused under Sections 376 (rape) of the IPC and section of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.

Jaspal Singh, investigating officer, said cops have started an investigation into the matter after registering a case. He said they are trying to trace the accused’s location and call details. The IO said as per the information, the accused used to meet the girl outside the school. The accused belonged to
Uttar Pradesh and lived in labour quarters in Ludhiana, he said. Police said the girl has been admitted in Rajindra Hospital in Patiala where her condition is serious, but stable.
