The children who will turn teenagers this year after celebrating their 13th birthday were all born in this millennium. This new teenage generation of millennium kids has a multitude of tasks in front of them and an array of dreams to chase.
Their parents and teachers have huge expectations from them while they have to deal with the symptoms of adolescence, including attractions, physical growth and puberty.
TOI talks to some of the millennium kids in the city who will turn 13 this month to find out how confused they are at this critical juncture and how determined is their will to achieve their goals.
Green Day fan Ayush Mehra resides at Pakhowal Road and loves to play the guitar. He has been learning the instrument since he was seven years old and plays a Jimm acoustic now. With no interest in politics and typical television soaps, Ayush keeps away from the idiot box and dreams of playing with a band of his own.
Another millennium kid who turns 13 this month, Abhishek Patyal of Model Town, finds his fix in gaming like Ayush's remedy is music. An avid gamer, Abhishek is crazy about "Counter Strike" and "DotA" and owns a huge collection of games. "I do not have a long term goal at present, but I just enjoy reading different literature and surfing the internet a lot," he adds.
