Therefore, I have decided to sit there and conduct a thorough check on documents so as to streamline the office working.' At a house meeting held on Wednesday, the house members and councillors had mentioned a room was being used as an office by councillors of Bains group. They had also stated there was a need to check records of zone-C office. MC employees had rued that though the mayor conducted regular meetings every Wednesday in zone-C, he had been unable to curb malpractices in the office.
Meanwhile, sources revealed that the authorities took a lot of time to realize the need to keep a check on the working of zone-C office. The matter had been highlighted earlier too, but the authorities had hardly done anything about it. Sources further revealed that even in the case of Amarjit Singh Sekhon, the matter had been reported to the mayor and MC commissioner, but none of them had paid heed to it.
Requesting anonymity, an MC employee said there was a scare among the corporation employees about the system of working in the zone-C office and most of them were wary of going there. He further said since hardly any higher authority visited the office, rot had set in.
