Kerala who was pursuing second year of MBBS at CMCH, Brown Road, was found hanging in his hostel room in the evening when his classmates went there to see him.
The youth has written an apology to his family on the wall of hostel room - he has not blamed anyone.
The boy was rushed to the hospital where he was declared brought dead. Following the information, assistant commissioner of police (ACP-Central) Mandeep Singh and division number 3 police reached the spot.
According to information, on Monday Joel did not attend the college following which by evening his classmates went to his room to see him. His room was bolted from inside and despite repeated knocks, they did not get any response. Thereafter, the students broke open the door and found Joel hanging.

Mandeep Singh said that the college was off following vacations from Christmas to January 9. The boy had gone back home in Kerala for vacations.
ACP added that the boy has written on his wall that he is ending his life and only he is responsible for it. Further, he has said sorry to his mother, father and brother for it.
The official added that the police have contacted his family and further proceeding will depend on their statement. He also said that result of recent examination was awaited. However, according to the information, the youth was a bright student.
