Ludhiana rural police arrests three accused for poppy farming

LUDHIANA:

Sadar Raikot police

has arrested three persons for

poppy farming

in Andlu village. The accused were identified as

Harinderjit Singh

of village Andlu, his son Gurpreet Singh and worker

Munish Kumar

of Bhawanipur District Purnia in Bihar now residing at Andlu village.


Police officials said that on Sunday that ASI Gulab Singh along with the police party was informed that Harinderjit has planted poppy husk plants in the backyard of his house. They added that acting on the information, Police party raided the spot where Gurpreet along with Munish now residing in the house of Harinderjit were cutting green poppy plants in the backyard of Harinderjit Singh’s house.

Police said that the accused apprehended at the spot and a case under sections of NDPS act FIR was registered against them at Sadar Raikot police station.

SHO Sadar Raikot police station, Inspector Abhinav Chauhan said that the three accused were arrested on Sunday and a total of 1200 green plants (weighing 70 kg) were recovered from them.
