LUDHIANA: After a video of a Sarpanch in Narangwal and an alleged female drug peddler went viral, in which she is seen arguing and challenging him to stop her from selling drugs, Ludhiana rural police got the property of the drug peddler demolished in a late evening action.
In the video, Manjinder Singh, the Sarpanch of the village who is the chairman of the Nasha Virodhi Committee, is seen asking the "woman peddler" not to sell drugs, but she is seen "challenging" him that she will continue to do so. The Sarpanch of the village stated that some persons involved in the drug trade threatened him and other members of the committee.
Police sources said that after the video of the argument between the Sarpanch and the "woman peddler" went viral, police started action against the "drug peddlers" in the village.
Manjinder Singh, Sarpanch of the village said that he got call from chief minister who enquired about the matter after seeing his video. He thanked Punjab CM and government for action.
SSP Ludhiana rural Dr Ankur Gupta said that the woman and her husband already have three drug peddling cases registered against them.
