LUDHIANA: Ludhiana rural police have arrested two drug peddlers and their Nigerian supplier after two kilograms of heroin was recovered from them. The accused were identified as 22-year-old Lal Singh and Paramjit Singh of Dollewal village in Kot Isse Khan in Moga, whereas their supplier was identified as Anthony Ugochukwu Okpala of Unuoji Onitsha Anambra state in
Nigeria, now living in Sector 23 in Dwarka of New Delhi whereas his other accomplice
Sukhjit Singh of Dollewal is yet to be arrested.
Giving details, SSP Ludhiana rural Vivek Sheel Soni, on Friday said that as part of their Special Campaign against drug Smugglers, their police party was present at Tehsil Chowk in Jagraon in connection with checking of suspicious persons and vehicles. He added that the team got secret information that Lal Singh and Paramjit Singh of Dollewal are into Heroin trade and they are coming to Jagraon on their motorcycle.
Police officials said that finding the information credible, police party sent memo to City Jagraon police station to get the case registered under various sections of NDPS act. They added that later police party set up a check post at Landeh Fatak, Jagraon.
Cops said that during checking, Lal Singh and Paramjit Singh were nabbed by the police party and later DSP Investigation
Dilbagh Singh reached at the spot. They added that during checking of the duo, two kilograms heroin and Rs. 3,12,000 drug money were recovered from them after which they were arrested into the matter. Police officials said that during interrogation the accused disclosed that they were using fake number Plate on their motorcycle and also divulged about their suppliers Sukhjit Singh and Anthony. They added that later the duo were nominated as accused in the case and booked under section 29 of NDPS Act and 473 IPC (Making or possessing counterfeit seal, etc., with intent to commit forgery punishable otherwise).
