Ludhiana: With city residents becoming increasingly aware of the need for greenery in the highly polluted city, gardening is catching on. People from a cross-section of society are trying their hand at gardening to free their surroundings of pollution.
Poonam Gupta, a homemaker from Dugri said, "For me, gardening is a passion which has grown with time.
I am in love with my garden and even a speck of green excites me. We are suffering from so many diseases because of global warming. Greenery is depleting. I devote my time to the garden as it is therapeutic for the mind, body and soul."
Riya Makkar, a student from Model Town said one should supplement the green cover as often as possible. "On every occasion, I plant a tree and water it regularly. Plants help soothe my mind. Whenever I feel stressed out, I come and sit in my garden. This is my personal paradise."
Manmeet Kaur, a resident of Phase 2, feeling gardening enriches her as a human being. "Sowing seedlings and nourishing then beautifully adds to my life. The pollution content is increasing everyday and fresh air is hard to come by. Planting trees around my house can make others passionate about growing trees outside their houses too," said Manmeet Kaur, a resident of Phase 2.
