Ludhiana IMA lodges police complaint against Baba Ramdev for remarks against doctors, sends him legal notice

LUDHIANA: In "response" to the alleged remarks by Baba Ramdev in a viral video against allopathic system of medicine and "claiming" that

allopathic medicine

is a "Diwalia" medicine, Ludhiana branch of

Indian Medical Association

(IMA) has filed a police complainant against him and sent him legal notice.

Ludhiana IMA said that by "claiming" that more patients have died by taking allopathic medicine than by

Covid-19

, this has let down the year of service to humanity made by all the doctors.

"Doctors have always led from the front in any epidemic or pandemic and it is worth mentioning that with a selfless interest more than 1200 doctors have laid down their lives in fight against Covid and protecting the near and dear ones of your families," Ludhiana IMA said.

Dr Saroj Aggarwal

, president IMA, Ludhiana said that allopathy respects all the system but these remarks should be considered derogatory and unacceptable at all.

Taking "note" of the "same", IMA Ludhiana has filed a complaint against Baba Ramdev with the commissioner of police, Ludhiana office to file an FIR and take appropriate action against the "said proclaimed Baba" furthermore. "IMA Ludhiana has also moved a legal notice to Baba Ramdev for defaming the whole medical fraternity and demanding a compensation of 10 crore", it added.

Dr Manoj K Sobti said that Baba Ramdev has made "mockery" of the sacrifices made by the doctors all over the world which is totally unacceptable.

Dr Ashish Ohri said that If Baba Ramdev has made such claims then why his own colleagues and board members get admitted to AIIMS for treatment and urged the government to take appropriate action to limit the "whimsical misguidance" of society by Baba Ramdev in the "name and garb" of holistic yoga.
