Ludhiana: Congress councillor Poonam Malhotra resigns

LUDHIANA: Due to interference in the development works in her ward, the Congress councillor from ward number 65 Poonam Malhotra has submitted her resignation to the mayor Balkar Sandhu on Wednesday. She had made a complaint to MC Commissioner Shena Aggarwal on Tuesday also where she had claimed that other party workers create hurdle in the ongoing works of her ward. She complained these workers do not have way of talking and they even try to stop the ongoing works.

She complained that on Monday patch work was being done in her ward but those workers took the MC employees along and asked them to do patch work at that place where no preparation was done. She requested the commissioner to ask the officials to follow the instructions of elected representatives and those who are interrupting the works should face the music.

She said she cannot bear such kind of behaviour and there is no support from senior leaders.

However, mayor Balkar Sandhu said councillors should not be discouraged and they need to fight against the opponents strongly.
