Life and works of the Mahatma on exhibit at varsity
Ludhiana: To commemorate 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, CGST Commissionerate, Ludhiana organised a photo exhibition on life and works of Gandhi at MS Randhawa Art Gallery, Punjab Agriculture University . A set of 100 selected photographs have been selected which have been extracted from 10000 archival collection of National Gandhi Museum, New Delhi.

Students from various schools thronged the exhibition to get a better understanding about the life and work of the Father of the Nation. To coincide with the anniversary a painting, landscape and sketch drawing competition was also organised on the occasion where students from schools and colleges participated drawing various paintings depicting the life and important events of the life of Gandhi. An expert in Charkha weaving Gurvinder Kaur of village Hans Kalan was also invited to show the art of weaving the charkha to children who would be visiting the exhibition. One students, Laimayum Jogeeta, from Manipur , of the department of apparel sciences of the varsity who visited the exhibition said , “This exhibition is helpful as it took us back to all the history that we have studied in school. Through the pictures of the archives one could also get to see some new aspects which were unknown to us as students.” Sumit Khanna, of the commissionerate said, “The exhibition invite has also been extended to various schools and colleges. Initially the exhibition was to be held for two days but seeing the response the exhibition has been extended for another two days.”
