Khanna police bust inter-state arms supply gang, arrest two
Ludhiana: Khanna Police claimed to have busted an inter-state arms supply gang with the arrest of two of its members. Police also recovered 13 weapons along with magazines from the accused. This comes after Doraha police recovered a pistol with two bullets and two swords from an individual. He, along with three others, was arrested with 20 grams of heroin, drug money, and US dollars while on the way to Chankoiyan Khurd village in a car on March 26.Khanna SSP Dr Jyoti Yadav Bains said that on March 26, a team from Doraha police station was on its way to Chankoiyan Khurd via Maksudra village when they stopped a car occupied by four men. She said that the car occupants identified themselves as Anuj of Khatra village in Khanna, Ravi Kumar alias Kartoos of ward number 12, Doraha, Suraj of Aalupur village in Mansa district, and Swarandeep Singh of Chawa village in Samrala.A search of their car yielded 20 grams of heroin, Rs 3.5 lakh and 33 US dollars. During interrogation, the accused revealed that they supplied drugs on behalf of Jagjit Singh alias Jaggi (former sarpanch) of Chankoiyan Khurd village. A case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and 111(2) (organised crime related) of BNS was registered at Doraha police station, and an investigation was started. Police said that a .32 bore pistol with two bullets and two swords were recovered during the interrogation of Ravi Kumar Kartoos. Thereafter, sections of the Arms Act were added to the FIR.During interrogation, Ravi said that Jagjit Singh also had illegal weapons, which he bought from Harpal Singh of Gandhwani village in Dhar district, Madhya Pradesh. He added that Harpal Singh manufactured and supplied the weapons, after which Harpal was nominated as an accused in the case.Khanna police said that on April 1, inspector Hardeep Singh, in-charge, CIA (Crime Investigating Agency) Staff, Khanna, along with a police party, reached Gandhwani village in Dhar district, Madhya Pradesh, and arrested Harpal. Police seized seven pistols of 0.32 bore with magazines from his possession. Interrogation of Harpal revealed the involvement of Kuldeep Singh of Sikh Mohalla in Bankaner of Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, who was arrested. Six pistols of .32 bore with magazines were recovered from his possession.Further investigation is on. Besides Harpal, Kuldeep Singh, aged about 32, is also a manufacturer of illegal weapons, police said. MSID:: 119945134 413 |
