JALANDHAR: Jalandhar Commissionerate Police on Friday arrested a drug peddler with three kilograms of heroin, buried along the Indo-Pakistan border, and Rs two lakh.
Divulging the details, the Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar on Saturday said that on September 9 the police had arrested two drug peddlers namely
Karanveer Singh and Vikram Singh along with one kg of heroin.
“The accused had revealed that they used to purchase the drug from Makhan Singh and his son Charanjeet Singh of village Gatti Mattad, in district Ferozepur, after which their names were also added in FIR. Subsequently a raid was conducted on September 11 during which Makhan Singh was arrested and on his information one kilogram of heroin was recovered from near the BSF post at Gazniwal adding that one pistol, 30 live cartridges and drug money worth RS 6.50 lakh was recovered from his house,” he said.
“We received a tip off that Charanjeet Singh was coming to Jalandhar for seeking bail for him and his father in Swift Dzire car number PB 03 AX 7979. The CIA Staff had laid a naka near Wadala chowk on Friday during which the car was trapped and the accused was arrested,” Bhullar said.
“During questioning investigation Charanjeet revealed that he had done mechanical engineering from Ghubaya College Jalalabad and they owned 2.5 acres of land out of which six kanaal land was across the fence. He admitted that he and his father had established contact with
Pakistan based drug smugglers after which they had started ordering consignment of drug from across the border. The order for drugs was placed through whatsapp after which it was delivered by Pakistani smugglers on the land adjoining their land. Charanjeet further revealed that one kilogram of heroin was ordered by his father before arrest and two kilogram of heroin was delivered to them on Dusshera night,” CP Bhullar said.
He said that on the information given by Charanjeet the police recovered three kilograms of heroin buried in the land owned by the accused near the Indo-Pak fence. “Drug money of Rs two lakh was recovered from a house taken on rent by accused near Devi Dwar Temple in Jalalabad in district Fazilka,” he added.
