Inflation heavy on heart but gift shower excites
LUDHIANA: It rained treats at the coffee meeting of the industrialist friends on Sunday. While S P Oswal of Vardhman Group gifted shirts to everyone, advocate Subash Aggarwal - who was bakra for the day - brought a boxful of special Turkish sweets for all.
After rummaging through their gift packs with much excitement and savouring the special sweets, the group ordered the usual French fries, muffins, Americano coffee and cappuccinos and brewed a conversation about the economic debacle - inflation.

Oswal said, "It is going to be a big challenge for the industry to maintain growth, considering the existing government policy for trade.''
To this, bicycle parts manufacturer Satish Dhanda added that stock market and political situation is equally triggering inflation. MD of Eastman Company, Jagdish Singal discussed the appreciation and depreciation of currencies and compared the economies of Brazil and Switzerland with India.
Ludhiana: As the group mulled over the ideas, Oswal explained the lopsided relation between dollar and gold that triggered a discussion about the strong hold of dollar, globally.
Once again steering the conversation, Oswal said the planning commission has constituted appropriate rules for people below poverty line and praised Punjabis for their hard working lifestyle. "Even migrants from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar who live here work very hard as they are influenced by the work culture of Punjab, where a farmer is seen working tirelessly in his fields,be it scorching hot or biting cold. Our land is blessed and influenced by saints like Guru Nanak, who preached the value of work,'' he said.
