Ludhiana: The CIA-III of Ludhiana police commissionerate arrested a liquor smuggler with an illegal weapon. The police said that the accused procured weapons from Bihar to ensure his safety, while smuggling liquor.
The arrested accused has been identified as Sooraj Sahni (29) of Ashok Vihar Colony of Bhamian Khurd area. He was arrested by a team of CIA-III from a checkpost established near Radhaswami satsang centre in Tibba area.

Avtar Singh said that the accused was arrested following a tip-off. Three months ago, he was also arrested by the Ludhiana police with 140 cartons of illicit liquor, and had later got a bail. “Sooraj confessed that he used to smuggle liquor from Harayan to Punjab. Sooraj hails from Bihar. He had gone to his hometown, and while returning he brought a country made pistol worth Rs 25,000 from Samastipur in Bihar,” the inspector added.
A case was registered. tnn
