Film screening on Manto’s birth anniversary

Ludhiana: To mark the 107th birth anniversary of renowned author Saadat Hassan Manto, the Lekhak Manch Samrala will be organizing a session and screening of movie based on the writer’s life and work here on Saturday.
Advocate Daljeet Shahi of Lekhak Manch and one of the organizers of the event said they have made it an annual feature to celebrate the birth anniversary of Manto.He added that the session would start at 10am wherein chief guest Om Prakash Gaso, a reputed Punjabi writer, will speak about Manto’s life and his works.
The organizer said the first session would be presided over by Gurtej Singh Goraya, secretary of Punjabi Academy, Delhi.
He added that later, six writers would read the stories related to Manto. Advocate Shahi said at 5pm, screening of a movie on Manto will start. He said the session would be inaugurated by reputed writer Surjeet Pattar and actor Ravinder Grewal will be present on the occasion.
