Fazilka police bust honey trap gang, arrest 8 including five women

FAZILKA: The Fazilka police have reportedly busted a gang involved in honey trapping and blackmailing people in Jalalabad town. The police have filed charges against 10 individuals, with eight arrests made so far, including five women.

A police officer was also found to be part of the gang. Authorities seized Rs. 5 lakh in cash, a car, and two cheques worth Rs. 10 lakh and Rs. 5 lakh from the suspects.

The gang was led by Jotam Kaur from Ludhiana, with other members identified as Jaswinder Kaur from Ludhiana, Sunita Kaur from Makhu, Krishna Rani and Chhindo Bai from Jalalabad, Angrez Singh from Chak Mochan Wala, Sukhchain Singh, Gobind Singh from Kidiyawali village, and police officer Amandeep Singh.

Deputy Superintendent of Police AR Sharma said that the Jalalabad City Police uncovered the gang's operations, which involved entrapping and blackmailing innocent people through a honey trap scheme. The women in the gang would lure victims into a relationship over the phone, invite them over, spike their drinks, and then record compromising videos to extort money.

One recent victim, Surinder Kumar from Bagge Ke Utaad, was lured by Jotam Kaur to the Makhu area, where she drugged him and recorded an explicit video. She then demanded Rs. 50 lakh but settled for Rs. 20 lakh. The victim reported the crime to the police, who promptly arrested the suspects and recovered Rs. 5 lakh in cash, a car, mobile phones, and two post-dated cheques.

The further investigation is underway and remaining accused will be arrested shortly, according to the DSP.
