Father, son, husband, shishya...it’s Sachin

LUDHIANA: Having entertained his fans for more than two decades with his cricket, Sachin left a lasting impression on his fans as an ideal son, brother, husband, father, son-in-law, team-mate, student and a cricket lover with his farewell speech at the Wankhede.
Like the Master Blaster, city residents were left emotional too, who expressed their feelings on Sachin and the different roles he played to perfection.
"He took me back to my cricketing days when he compared the 24 years of his cricketing life to the 22 yards and his gesture of paying obeisance to the pitch left me in tears. I think this happened to every cricketer who saw Sachin today," said Chaman Lal Malhotra, 77, chairman, selection team (senior), Punjab Cricket Association, and a renowned batsman of his times.
Deep Jot Singh, 37, was reminded of his father when Sachin mentioned about his father. "My father used to take me to the school and he had a lot of faith in me. He always told me that hard work is the only true friend. What Sachin said made me emotional. And I too like him really missed my father today."
Varun Behal, an industrialist from Gurdev Nagar, remembered how his elder brother discussed every thing whenever he was in trouble and has been guiding force ever since he started working. "I really went back to my first day in the factory and how he told me everything and asked the experienced people to teach me all the tricks of the trade and then he used to ask me as to what I learnt the whole day in the evening," he said.
Vikas Kohli, an industrialist from Sarabha Nagar, remembered all the sacrifices made by his mother in bringing him up and making him what he is today.
Retired colonel KB Sharma talked about as how his sisters kept fast for him when he had gone for a secret mission to Chinese border and as to how they still love him so much. "When I asked them as to why kept fast and sleep on the floor instead of beds, they told me that they were not sure if I was getting all this in my mission," he said. Businessman Aditya and his wife Kanchan hugged each other after hearing what Sachin had to say about his wife Anjali.
"Husbands may not say it, but they understand and cherish this support," said Kanchan.
