LUDHIANA: In a booster for the railway contractors, they can now bid for the contracts online instead of the normal mode in which huge formalities have to be performed. An awareness meeting in this regard was organised by the senior officials of the railways at Ludhiana railway station with the contractors.
Sudeep Singh, senior divisional commercial manager (DCM), railways, said, "In order to make the tendering system more transparent and easier, railways has now started e-auction process instead of the normal tenders.
The eligible persons, private firms, company or body can participate in the online auctions and bid for the desired tenders. These days, the commercial tenders related to non-fare revenues are only being executed via the online medium."
Singh also informed the contractors about the upcoming tenders related to parking, catering, publicity, outsourcing of waiting room and cloak room, and pay-and-use toilets.
During the meeting, the contractors gave the feedback to the officials about the problems being faced by them. It was also discussed how to further improve the amenities at the railway station and the proposed plan of upgradation of the station.
