LUDHIANA: The Indian Premier League (IPL) fever has this time caught a doctor in the city. A fan of all things cricket, Dr Vikram Bhatia, a resident of Sector 32, Chandigarh Road, was inspired to write and sing a song on the tournament. He has also uploaded it on YouTube.
Vikram, 33, said he has been singing for 15 years. ‘‘About 15 days ago while I watching a match on TV, the idea of singing for the tournament struck me.
First I thought of reworking the lyrics of a song by Mika Singh — ‘Dekha Jo Tujhe Yaar Dil Main Baaje Guitaar’ — to make it IPL centric. But when I went to record it at the Muhammad Sadeeq studio near Sham Nagar, the artists there encouraged me to write my own lyrics,’’ he said.
So Vikram took a little over a week more and wrote his own song, which he recorded on May 11 and 12. ‘‘The song was directed by Sonu Sultan ji and it is 3.49 minutes long. On May 13, I uploaded it on YouTube and shared its link on Facebook and Twitter,’’ he said. As netizens checked out the song, 220 views flowed into Vikram’s account.
‘‘The popularity has worked as a boost and I want to make another song on show ‘Extra Innings’ that is aired between the matches,’’ he said.
