LUDHIANA: Cracking a whip over illegal developers, Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) stopped construction work in 11 illegal colonies situated in various parts of the city on Saturday. The colonies were being developed on Tajpur Road and their area varied between 1.5 acres to 30 acres. Out of these 11 colonies, three are situated on Tajpur Kaka road, three are on main Tajpur road, two on Tajpur Jhabowal Road and three in Bhamiyan Kalan, said Gurtej Singh, the estate officer (regulatory) of GLADA.
Guru Nanak school bags trophy: The 11th Baba Gurmukh Singh Memorial Inter-school Shabad Gayan Competition was held at Guru Nanak Public School on Saturday. Teams from 18 schools participated in this competition and rendered 'shabads' according to the 'ragas' mentioned in Gurbani. While Guru Nanak International Public School bagged the trophy, GGN Public School was the first runner-up and BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School was the second runner-up.
Winners felicitated: The prize winners of Panjab University Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival were all smiles on Saturday when they were felicitated at Master Tara Singh Memorial College for Women. Principal Parveen Kaur Chawla talked about the achievements of the college in youth festival. These achievements, she said, were the result of hard work and sincere efforts of college faculty. She congratulated all the winners.
