The protestors also condemned the Delhi police action on peaceful protestors.
Gurdeep Singh, main organiser of the protest, and Chairman of Akal Market in Chaura Bazar, says: "More than 500 businessmen from various areas of the city like Model Town, BRS Nagar, Civil Lines, Brown Road etc, participated in the protest. The rape of the five-year-old is inhuman. We demand death sentence for the accused and also want the government to come up with stricter punishment for such brutes. We also want firm action against Delhi police officials who behaved badly with female protestors. The Delhi police commissioner must quit his job, as such incidents have been happening regularly under his administration."
Manjeet Singh, businessman from Model Town says: "I literally cried after hearing that glass and plastic was recovered from the victim's womb. This is a shame on humanity. We should voice our protest strongly so that such criminals get the message loud and clear that the nation will not tolerate such gruesome crimes. Moreover, the Delhi government and the union government should stop passing the buck and take serious measures to check such crimes on women."
Robin Chugh, businessman from Model Town, said, "Rape is surely an inhuman and gruesome crime, and such criminals should have no place in our country. I was also shocked to see the police action on peaceful protestors after the incident."
Meanwhile, traffic on the busy Jagraon Bridge remained disrupted for about half an hour, which resulted in inconvenience to commuters.
