Meanwhile, a cross FIR was registered against six Congress leaders and three SAD leaders on Tuesday evening. However, Congress leaders alleged that po lice applied more stringent sections of the IPC against their leaders and lighter sections against SAD. They said that they would take up the issue with the DGP and Punjab governor.

The effigy , which Congress has set up on a ground near Vardhaman Mills, was supposed to have faces of CM and other SAD ministers, but it was allegedly destroyed by SAD leaders and their supporters on Monday night.

MP Ravneet Bittu and other Congress leaders had decided to celebrate Dussehra on anti-drugs and anti-corruption themes. However, the situation had turned ugly when SAD workers reached the venue on Chandigarh road late on Monday night resulting in a clash between the leaders of both the parties.

In this clash, district Congress president

Gurpreet Singh Gogi

and others were injured. A Youth Akali Dal leader was caught in the process and handed over to police at Ludhiana police commissioner's camp office late on Monday night.
