LUDHIANA: Addressing a public function held to pay homage to Comrade Gurmail Singh Hunjan and Comrade Joginder Singh who were martyred by the terrorists because of their persistent struggle against the separatist Khalistani movement in 1989, Comrade Hardev Arshi, member of national council of the Communist Party of India (CPI) and former MLA, hailed the verdict of Karnataka elections and termed it as a count down of the Modi government.
According to statement issued by CPI, Arshi appealed to all the political parties to shun their petty ambitions and unite to fight back the RSS patronised BJP government at the centre. "Having failed in addressing the people’s issues the government is now out to split the society on communal lines to garner votes. Prime minister’s rhetoric during the election in Karnataka is a clear cut example of this. But the people out rightly rejected such slogans."
D P Maur, district secretary of the CPI, cautioned the Punjab government to fulfil its promises or face people’s movements. Dr Arun Mitra Member National Council CPI moved a resolution supporting the struggle of Women Wrestlers.
