Ludhiana: Police have booked seven cousins and their four unidentified aides for allegedly storming into a dhaba and assaulting its owners after a dispute over waste water disposal in Daresi area. The accused reportedly brandished a licensed firearm during the attack, an act captured on CCTV.The FIR, registered at Daresi police station on the complaint of Raghu Kochar of Sardar Nagar, invokes sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 332(c) (house trespass), 191(3) (rioting with deadly weapons), 190 (unlawful assembly), 324(4) (mischief causing damage) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with sections 54 and 59 of the Arms Act. Those named include Sandeep Nagpal, Sahil Nagpal, Joginder Nagpal, Pawan Nagpal, Ashu Nagpal, Harsh Nagpal, Satish Nagpal, and four accomplices yet to be identified.Kochar stated that his family runs a dhaba in Farid Nagar, while the accused operate a hosiery unit nearby. The dispute began when waste water from the hosiery's tank was discharged onto the street, causing stagnation. Kochar said he requested the accused to clean the street, which led to an argument and verbal abuse.
Later, the accused allegedly barged into the dhaba and assaulted Kochar. When his father and uncle intervened, they were threatened at gunpoint. The attackers fled soon after.Investigating officer ASI Davinder Singh confirmed that CCTV footage shows the accused flashing a gun.
