LUDHIANA:

Congress MP from Ludhiana

Ravneet Singh Bittu and Punjab food, civil supplies and consumer affairs minister

Bharat Bhushan Ashu

on Sunday said that the Congress party would win the

Shahkot bypoll

with a big margin. In a statement released here today, Bharat Bhushan Ashu said that the victory of the party would be a mandate of people in favour of the pro-development agenda of the Congress party in Punjab.

Accompanied by several Congress leaders and MLAs, both

Ravneet Singh Bittu

and Bharat Bhushan Ashu have been camping in Shahkot area for the last several days. MP Ravneet Singh Bittu is the incharge of all wards of Lohian town while cabinet minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu is the overall incharge of 28 villages, such as Bangiwal, Gansuwal, Jungian, Basti Juggian, Raipur Gujran, Bitla, Bangiwal, Umrewal, besides others that are located adjoining to the Jagraon town of Ludhiana district.

Bittu also said that the Congress-led Punjab government is committed to overall development in the state. He said that people have not forgotten 10 years of complete misrule of Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janta Party government.

Cabinet minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu said, “Ever since Congress came to power in Punjab, we have been committed entirely for the development of the people, especially the farmers. Till date, reiterating its commitment regarding debt relief to farmers, lakhs of farmers have already been benefited from this scheme, while many more would be benefited in coming few months.”

He also said that the people know that it is Congress party’s sole aim to carry out development in the state, while on the other hand, the SAD-BJP is more interested in “developing” their own households/families.
