Clerk, property dealer scuffle in MC office

Ludhiana: High drama was witnessed in zone A office of the MC on Wednesday when clerk Manjot Singh had a scuffle with a property dealer. The dealer alleged clerk demanded bribe for some work from him.
Manjot Singh said property dealer Sonu had brought some work of his client and he had sent the file after completing all formalities to senior officials, but it had not returned yet.When the dealer came to the office on Wednesday, he started creating pressure on him for clearance of file. He said when as he told Sonu that the file was pending with seniors, Sonu started arguing with him.
The clerk said Sonu approached senior officials and levelled allegations against him for asking bribe. Manjot Singh alleged he manhandled him and his turban was also got removed. He said he brought the matter in the knowledge of zonal commissioner Neeraj Jain and also filed a police complaint.
On the other hand, Sonu said the clerk had asked bribe from him for clearing a file and when he met the superintendent over the issue and he called up Manjot Singh on his room, the latter got angry and after returning to his seat he attacked him (dealer) with a pen. tnn
