City students shine in NTSE Stage-I
Ludhiana: City students have excelled themselves in the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) Stage-I for Punjab, the results of which was declared by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) on Monday evening. Yuval Goyal of Sacred Heart Convent School has secured the 11th rank, Rishabh Mohan from DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, has secured the 17th rank, and Rijul Singla from Sacred Heart Convent School has secured the 27th rank. These three boys are the city’s toppers.
Deepanshu Garg of DAV Public School has secured the 33rd rank, while Kavya Goyal from BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, has secured the 34th rank, standing in the fourth and fifth positions respectively. Other students who cleared the exam from the city include Sidak Bir of Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar, who has secured the 42nd rank, Keshav Rai and Piyush Bansal from BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, who have secured the 43rd and 51st ranks respectively, and Gurjot Singh and Arush Vij of DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, who have secured the 59th and 60th ranks respectively.
Apart from these, Kriti Garg of Sat Paul Mittal School has bagged the 64th rank, Hemant Kaushik from DAV School has secured the 69th rank, Yashik Bansal from DCM Presidency School clinched the 92nd rank, and Samovar Singh Chandi from DAV Public School secured the 93rd rank. Other students who cleared the exam from the city include Bhuvnesh Aggarwal from BCM School, Dugri, with the 94th rank, while Navdeep from DAV Public School, Police Lines, secured the 115th rank. Harshit Verma from Ryan International School has secured the 144th rank, Naazveer Kaur from DAV Public School has secured the 150th rank, and Nipun from BCM School has secured the 155th rank.
Topper Yuval Goyal said, “I am motivated by my brother Tarush ,Goyal who cracked the JEE Advance in 2018 with the 16th All India rank, and I am planning to take up non-medical. But right now, I am focussing on my board exams.” While Rishabh Mohan credits his success to his parents and coaching faculty, Tejpreet Singh said, “I used to cover all the mock tests. I want to pursue medicine.”
Two government school students — Ektapreet Kaur from GSSS Bharat Nagar, and Parneet Kaur of GSSS Hargobindpur, secured the 156th and 170th ranks respectively.
The NTSE is a national-level scholarship programme for students of Class X that aims to identify and nurture talented students. The scholarship, under the present scheme, is awarded to those candidates who want to pursue courses in science and social sciences up to the doctoral level, and in professional courses such as medicine and engineering up to the second-degree level, subject to fulfilment of conditions.
