LUDHIANA: NCC cadets of 4 Punjab Air Squadron of Ludhiana won numerous medals in different competitions at the Pre-Vayu Sena Camp held at Patiala from October 6 to 26. Also, nine cadets, six boys and three girls, of the unit were selected for the Vayu Sena Camp to be held at Bangalore.
Commanding Officer of 4 Punjab Air Squadron Wing Commander HS Gulati said the cadets with their determined attempts won gold medals in flying, health and hygiene and 0.12 bore shooting, a silver medal in aero modelling and bronze medals in control line aerobatics, 0.22 shooting (boys) and line care competition.
Cadet Ajay Pal Singh of the unit bagged a gold in flying and Cadet Shivam Bagga clinched the gold in 0.12 bore shooting, he added.
The CO said his unit bagged the overall second position among various units of Chandigarh directorate in the Pre Vayu Sena Camp. Wing Commander Gulati hoped the cadets selected for Vayu Sena Camp put up a good show at Bangalore where all the directorates would turn up.
The victorious cadet, Ajay Pal Singh, said winning a gold medal was a morale boost as his goal is to be a fighter pilot some day. The Railway Road resident appealed youngsters must join NCC as the organization plays an eminent role in shaping one's personality.
Cadet Shivam Bagga said her dream came true with the gold in shooting and she would put her best foot forward at VSC in Bangalore to win more medals for her directorate. The Gill Chowk resident said like many of her co-cadets her goal is to join defence forces .
