Chinks spoil PPCB office-bearers' list

LUDHIANA: Battling factionalism and infighting, PPCC president Captain Amarinder Singh received a shot in the arm when a rival leader publically announced his support in former CM's favour.It was surprising to see former education minister and seniorCongress leader Harnam Das Johar throw his weight behind Amarinder,especially,since he was among the MLAs and ministers who once led a move to oust Amarinderfrom the CM's office soon after the latter had taken over in 2002.Ina press release issued here on Monday Johar said, “it is the apt time forthe congressmen to support Captain Amarinder singh. Its not only CaptainAmarinder singh who is unhappy with Member Parliament from Gurdaspur, PartapSingh Bajwa for sending his separate list for the nomination of the officebearers of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) but we also feel that suchthings should be avoided and once captain has been made the head he should besupported for taking decisions,” said, Johar who was once a strong memberof CLP leader Rajinder Kaur Bhattal group, which led the rebellion againstAmarinder then. Johar said the congress should unite at this timeand all the leaders ``should refrain from any such activity that weakens theparty''.
