CBSE Class X results: It’s girl power again
The top slot in Ludhiana city went to two students with 98.6% marks
LUDHIANA: Students are overjoyed as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has resumed the percentage system in Class X after eight years, ending the cumulative grade points average (CGPA).The Class X result was declared on Tuesday, in which once again girls have outshone boys in taking the top slots. Getting the top slot in the district, Ridhi Mangla of Sacred Heart Convent Senior Secondary School, Aligarh, Jagroan, scored 99% marks. She achieved 100 marks each in science and social studies, 99 marks in maths and 98 marks each in English and Punjabi.Ridhi said she wanted to make a career in teaching profession. She said she would become a lecturer or would work with some social organization to provide free education to children.Meanwhile, the top position in the city was secured by two students, Pulkita Puri of BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, and Gautam Jain of Bharatiya Vidya Mandir, Kitchlu Nagar, with 98.6%.Second position was shared by Divya Singla of Kundan Vidya Mandir, Civil Lines, Pranav Gupta and Puneet Singh of MGM Public School, Dugri, with 98.4%.
Third city position was shared by four students, Gagandeep Singh, Samridhi Manchanda, Deepti, all three of BCM Arya Model School, and Yashika Malhotra of DAV School, Pakhowal Road, with 98.2%.The city toppers Pulkita and Gautam are happy to have percentage system back. Gautam said, “The CGPA system was about average grade points obtained by students in all subjects. So, many students would get 10 CGPA and nobody had an idea of exact marks.”Pulkita said, “At least with percentage system we have got positions, and marks are clear.”
