LUDHIANA: Senior advocate Krishan Kumar Baghai had a harrowing time on Friday evening when his car was hit by another car on Ferozepur Road and within minutes, the young men sitting in the car thrashed him and allegedly fled with Rs 2,500 cash from his pocket.
Arun Baghai, son of Krishan Kumar, informed that it was late on Friday evening when his father was returning from a family friend���s place in Agar Nagar that the car hit his father���s vehicle on Ferozepur Road on way to their house in Gurdev Nagar.
���The accused, who were five in number, first pulled the key out of the car and then even before my father could say anything, they attacked him and he was left bleeding by the accused, who fled, yelling abuses and threats to him. However, it was then that we all went to the spot on information from my father and then registered a complaint with the police at Sarabha Nagar. Police registered the case immediately,��� said Arun.
Police have identified two people, Harmit Singh, a resident of village Baroundi, police station Dehlon, Amit Chawla, a resident of street number 12, Dashmesh Nagar, Shimlapuri, booking them under sections 382, 279, 323, 506, 427,148 and 149 of IPC. Efforts are being made to trace identity of other accused.
Beant Juneja, SHO, Sarabha Nagar, informed that both the accused Harmit and Amit were arrested by the police around 3.30 pm and that in the interrogation, the police would try to trace information relating to the accused as well.
���Such incidents would not be tolerated and we are taking action against accused so that it becomes an example for others as well,��� added Juneja.
